What is Kamishibai?
What is Kamishibai?
Before television and before manga, kamishibai (meaning 'Paper Theater') entertained the public with hand-painted illustrations and live narration. It is a historic storytelling art, used today for education and entertainment.
At one point kamishibai was so popular that when television was introduced to Japan, it was referred to as "Electric Kamishibai." Some kamishibai illustrators went on to create manga and anime, including Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Astro Boy.

Chloe's Kamishibai presentations have entertained audiences all over Texas with a mixture of amusing tales and historical education. Previous performances include the Corpus Christi Comic Con & Anime Con, South Texas Botanical Gardens, and The Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures.
